Gay Men’s Nude Yoga Elemental Retreat

February 21st to 28th

Dan Carter, or Danimal as his student’s know him, is the owner of Born Naked Yoga & Retreats, a Washington, D.C.-based yoga center that hosts the area’s largest and most social naked yoga group with over 1,000 members. Carter and his group hold monthly retreats throughout the country and will hold their first international retreat in Puerto Vallarta Mexico.
Amaria Villas is looking forward to having you as a part of our family as we begin venturing into wellness retreats and programs for this amazing city. Puerto Vallarta is well known for its beauty and natural landscape. We are surrounded by rivers, mountains, spectacular sunrises, and breathtaking sunsets. The culture is extremely welcoming and refreshing.
Please bring what you need to fully experience this special energy. Bring your drums, paint brushes, and anything that helps you create. We are excited to be embarking on this adventure with you and are grateful for these traditions to be offered to our gay community in a setting where we can feel comfortable being our natural selves.
In addition to exercises and daily yoga practice, we have put together activities to make the most of this retreat by incorporating the traditional of the region and the jungle atmosphere.

Price for Retreat

Prices are in USD based on double occupancy. The prices include food, drink, most alcoholic beverages, listed excursions, and shuttle transportation to the excursions listed. This does not include to and from the airport which does require special permits. We will provide a list of contacts at the emails provided to address those and any additional questions. We will end the day with our opening yoga class, intention setting and a drum and fire circle to start off the energy work of the week. We will have extra drums but you are welcome to bring your own or other instruments for some sacred charging in addition to fire poi and toys at your own risks. Light background tempo music will be provided but you are encouraged to lead the music with your intuition.

Day 2 – Earth Day

We’ll start our day with a grounding practice meant to draw out the earth energy within each of us. Expect to roll around on your back, knees and hands before finally rising to our feet to find slow and solid balancing postures. Danimal will truly help you find your roots through this earth-bound physical practice.

Ceremony at Terra Noble:

This pre-Hispanic sweat lodge originated with indigenous people in Mesoamerica and can be found all over Mexico, most notably in the sanctuary of Terra Noble

Temazcales were used in pre-Hispanic times: many vestiges of ancient sweat lodges have been found within ceremonial centers, and interestingly, frequently associated with ball courts. The construction was similar to that of palaces and temples, and their size, in comparison with modern examples, shows that they were buildings of great importance. Temazcales represented a place of transition, similar to a cave or womb – a symbolic passage between the heavens and the underworld. They were used for both ritual and medical practices by priests, warriors, and players of the Mesoamerican ball game.

We will continue with earth invocations upon return to Amaria Villas with some activities meant to ground into the canvas of earth through which all activities of life are experienced as we strengthen the element of Earth.

Day 3 – Air Day

We begin the day with Canopy River Tours. To pay homage to the air we will take ATV tours over one of the worlds largest suspension bridges over the Cuale River. We will also be zip-line across multiple trails.

That afternoon we’ll return to the Villas for a breath-based practice called Pranayama followed by an introduction to partner and acroyoga. Even if you’ve never done acroyoga or are afraid of flying we are always in need of bases, spotters and those who connected strongly to their earth energy the previous day in order to guide us.

Day 4 – Water Day

We will take off on a boat early in the morning and will get to snorkel and see amazing rock formations while sipping coffee and eating a light breakfast. We will then get time and equipment to snorkel and to explore a secluded beach where we will move through a Prana-flow yoga practice and ujayii breathing practice that replicates the flowing rivers and crashing waves of the Pacific landscape around us. Just like our practices at the Villas, this yoga practice will be clothing optional. We will eat lunch on the boat on the way back to the pier.

We will continue with water invocations upon return to Amaria Villas with some activities meant to unleash the sacred powers of subconscious and emotional energies of the element of Water.

Day 5 – Fire Day

We’ll start the morning with a series of Sun Salutations and Power Yoga to awaken our inner Agni. Expect core work, twists, arm balances and other postures meant to challenge students of all levels.

That afternoon we’ll continue to gently stoke our fire with a Thai Massage workshop led by Danimal. We’ll learn how to advocate for our physical wants and needs, active listening skills and the art of touch.

Closing party for the day of fire will be a festival of DJ, fire dancers, and other acrobats as we celebrate the heated light of life.

Day 6 – Vital Energy

We’ll begin our day with a yoga practice meant to bring together all the elements we’ve explored and include an open and frank conversation about sex and sexuality meant to inspire sexual wellbeing. This will be a workshop focusing on self-exploration and harnessing our untapped power.

From there students will have a wide opening in their schedule to explore their own passions throughout Puerto Vallarta and it’s neighboring resort towns. Options include shopping and dining in the historic Zona Romántica, lounging by the city’s gorgeous (and sexy) beachfront: Playa de los Muertos, exploring the city’s Centro Histórico full of entertainers and colonial buildings or visiting Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s luxurious 1960s villa.

That evening we’ll regather for a Tantric Workshop with guest teach Alvaro. The workshop will focus on Kundalini and the sacral chakra as a force which used properly can disrupt subconscious patterning to allow for new growth. This is not for the faint of heart. There will be uncomfortable intimacy as we free ourselves from the bondage of our own stigmas and judgements to stimulate our passions and learn the gift of transmutation.

Day 7 – Last Full Day

Today will be relaxing and we will help plan any necessary Covid testing or transportation needs.  Make sure you pick up any souvenirs, vanilla, or tequilas you want to take back home.

Day 8 – Departures

Thank you for staying with Amaria Villas. Please consider us for any special events going forward.
